VIRAT KOHLI: A Gentleman On and Off The Field

Virat Kohli, the Indian Cricket Team skipper has maintained his spot in the news for quite some time now. Being the face of the Indian cricket, and International Cricket to an extent, he graciously steals the limelight. Be it tying the forever knot with Anushka Sharma, or events promoting his brand label media always wants to know what he is up to.

With Mahendra Singh Dhoni passing on the valuable baton to him along with huge responsibilities and expectations from the entire nation, his different approach towards captaincy has led to various controversies and deferred opinions. Dhoni, ‘captain cool’ has marked his position with great conviction in the history of Indian cricket. His decision making abilities and calm mind has been looked up to at numerous occasions. On the contrary, Kohli is known for his aggression and reflecting this aggression in his performance on the pitch is his forte. He diverts his anger in the game by consistently performing at his best and proving his stance.

In the recent test series against South Africa in which Team India faced thrashing defeat, instances of Kohli make his success doubtful in the long-term for his approach towards captaincy. Firstly the rash humorous comments passed heard through the stump microphone, and the act of dissent which led to a 25% of match fees as fine.

Along with underperformance in overseas pitches, fans are doubtful if the aggression is the right successor after a reign of calm and cool captaincy displayed by Mahindra Singh Dhoni.

With both players being excellent captains, it would not be right to compare varied style of game. Fans have shown great support to both captains and appreciated their determination.

However in the recent times, Kohli is being criticized for having to try too many options with the batting line up and players in the squad. It was noted that Kohli had not played with the same 11 players for 12 matches in a row.

t's refreshing to see that Virat Kohli is a #gentleman not just on the ground but off it as well. In this day and age when celebrities waste no time in washing dirty linen in public, it is quite welcome to see a chivalrous Virat stand for his ex-girlfriend and defend her. Hope all men take a cue from this!
